Fernanda the Brazilian snake

IMG_1464_ed

Goatee Toni handles Fernanda the Brazilian snake –

One of the most beautifully patterned snakes in the world, Fernanda is definitely a unique attraction in our shows! It took us many years to have her grown up to a nice 6-footer from a tiny little baby. Something very interesting about these snakes is that they don’t lay eggs! Babies are born alive!

Have you met Fernanda yet?

First visit to local school

After 11 years, finally, we’re invited by a local school for the very first time. We had a great time presenting to the entire secondary school for its science week at Hong Kong Baptist University Affiliated School Wong Kam Fai Secondary School.

Meet Jabba the African Bullfrog

IMG_6853_ed_s_wm

Jabba is a unique animal of ours. He’s not an eye candy type of critter that makes people say “Ahhh so cute” like our hedgehogs or baby chinchillas do. He doesn’t make much people exaggerate their facial expressions like our snakes and tarantulas do. But he’s the only one that causes people to keep saying both “Yuck! He’s so ugly” and “Can I hold him now? Can I give him a kiss?” at the same time. Pure contradiction 🙂

When it comes to presenting these not-so-good-looking critters, it tests the skills and experience of the presenter. You can either make people hate it more or change their mind to start appreciating something they’ve disliked for a lifetime.

Our gecko went to a good home

leopardgecko IMG_4249 2in1

A lovely mom sent us this picture of a leopard gecko she got from us a year ago together with setting as her son’s Christmas gift. Obviously a happy lizard. Good job! That’s responsible parenting.

Also glad that the care sheet and advice we provided helped and our lizard went to a good home.

See how it was like at the beginning in 2013: http://www.jurassicgarage.hk/blog/a-reptile-as-christmas-gift/

Mr.Grumpy the snapping turtle

IMG_5099_2in1

Most of the animals we chose to bring to shows are chill and friendly, but there are a few exceptions.

Mr. Grumpy is an alligator snapping turtle. Obviously, he is always very grumpy. That’s typical of this species. The healthier these turtles are the angrier they can get to scare you.

Many people like our gentle animals. But if you think no one likes Mr. Grumpy you’re wrong. People are scared of him but at the same time fascinated by the unique nature of him. He has a lot of fans indeed! Are you one of his fans?
