Meet Jabba the African Bullfrog

Jabba is a unique animal of ours. He’s not an eye candy type of critter that makes people say “Ahhh so cute” like our hedgehogs or baby chinchillas do. He doesn’t make much people exaggerate their facial expressions like our snakes and tarantulas do. But he’s the only one that causes people to keep saying both “Yuck! He’s so ugly” and “Can I hold him now? Can I give him a kiss?” at the same time. Pure contradiction 🙂

When it comes to presenting these not-so-good-looking critters, it tests the skills and experience of the presenter. You can either make people hate it more or change their mind to start appreciating something they’ve disliked for a lifetime.

Our gecko went to a good home

A lovely mom sent us this picture of a leopard gecko she got from us a year ago together with setting as her son’s Christmas gift. Obviously a happy lizard. Good job! That’s responsible parenting.

Also glad that the care sheet and advice we provided helped and our lizard went to a good home.

Our animals are Ebola-free

Our African animals

Ebola is spreading in Africa but we did not think it has anything to do with our animals and shows, until recently.

Due to increased concerns from customers regarding the possibilities of our animals carrying Ebola, we would like to clarify that 100% of the whole line of our current African species come to events are captive bred – they have never really been to Africa.

We do not like the idea of having wild caught animals because they might carry diseases or parasites, and it harms the wild population of the species. Captive-bred animals are more friendly, clean, and suitable for events, too.

Our animal ambassadors are carefully chosen, hand picked from a lot more animals back in our New Territories headquarter to make sure you meet the best ones of ours.

Besides, none our crew has been to Africa in the past 3 months. We will also postpone our next trip to East Africa and Madagascar. Cheers!

Thank you for your support to Jurassic Garage throughout the decade – our animal parties have been very successful! And what is even more exciting, we are still growing!

To match with the growth, all current party packages will be revised in July.

And, there will be a brand new package exclusively for our VIP customers.

How to raise a loving child?

Being led by the right education, kids can foster a loving heart through the appreciation of not only the adorable-looking animals but also the ones look a bit chubby, slimy and creepy on the outside.

If adults show a gross face towards these cold blooded critters, it will develop a sense of discrimination in the kids.

If adults show a you’re-not-so-handsome-but-i’m-still-happy-to-meet-you face, kids will develop a loving heart and we will have a peaceful world.

It’s actually a gift for parents of this generation that we STILL have such a great variety of small animals living on earth we can let our kids explore. When these kids become parents, a lot of species now we see will have gone extinct.

So now, give your kids an experience in interacting with our amazing critters. Safe and fun!

Big thanks to all the big and little fans we met in 2013! Your support gave us the drive to tackle all the barriers and keep things growing. We already have new stuff and plans on mind for some even nicer reptile/fluffy parties in 2014. Yay!

 

A reptile as Christmas gift?

As animal lovers we do not like to see people easily giving pets as gifts. It is a lifetime commitment and full of responsibilities.  But for those who are serious, we are happy to choose some of the most suitable ones for them to keep as pets. It also comes with the terrarium, food, and all equipment required, as well as care sheets and our professional advice.

Earlier today a very lovely parent just picked up their leopard gecko lizard terrarium (together with the nice lizard and all stuff) at JG Club. Now their lucky kid should be home getting the special Christmas surprise soon. 🙂 The lizard has been on the kid’s wish list for a loooooong time. He finally got it.

Our Safari Rangers

The Crew at Jurassic Garage consists of a great variety of 21 animal enthusiasts, hand picked and trained by Goatee Toni, working respectively in our Headquarter, Farm, JG Club, and outside shows.

Safari Rangers are the team you can meet at presentations. Our rangers are multiracial with English as primary language and from all over the world, like our animals. We are proud to have this energetic and passionate team consisting of zoology graduate, arachnid breeder, snake breeder, artist, and ones who grew up in wild Africa.
Not only being good with animals, they also handle kids well. They are either parents themselves or have been teaching children for years before they joined JG.

Unique opportunity to work with exotic animals in a positive atmosphere

 

Job details:

  • Handle animals & lead presentation for adults & children
  • Communication with management & clients to plan and set up the presentation
  • Work mostly on Hong Kong side; occasionally Kowloon or New Territories
  • Work officially starts in September/October 2013

Animals:

  • Must be confident to handle reptiles, amphibians, arachnids, and exotic mammals
  • Knowledge & experience in animals preferred but not essential –
    Candidates with less experience in animals will be assigned as assistants until qualified. Professional training will be offered

Requirements:

  • Fluent in English
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to both children & adults
  • Must be confident & able to present in front of a crowd
  • Must be available to work on weekends and holidays
  • Must be flexible regarding scheduling as it is based on market demands

Personality:

  • Passionate about with kids & animals
  • Stable, friendly, enthusiastic, energetic, great patience and responsible
  • Motivated individuals with the desire and enthusiasm when dealing with kids
